The Theme

Earth Tones, In Harmony with the Landscape

Narra Hill sits on a hillside overlooking Taal Lake—lush greens, warm browns, golden light. The dress code draws from this landscape. Think forest canopy, volcanic earth, morning mist. Filipino barong and African kitenge are warmly encouraged.

Day One — June 9

Dowry & Pamamanhikan

Smart Casual

A warm, family-centered evening. The groom's family formally asks the bride's family for her hand in marriage - a Filipino pamamanhikan blended with a Kenyan dowry ceremony. Think 'festive family dinner' - not too formal, culturally expressive, joyful. Family members will exchange vows of commitment and blessing.

Dress Code

Smart casual, any colour. African and Filipino traditional attire is especially encouraged and celebrated.

Day Two — June 10

Ceremony & Reception

Formal — Ceremony at 3:00 PM

The main event. Church ceremony at The Ridge overlooking Lake Taal, followed by reception in the Forest Gardens. Both Filipino and African formal attire are equally welcome and celebrated - this is a fusion wedding. Wear what honours your heritage.

For the Gentlemen

Brown & Beige Tones

Groomsmen and male guests wear dark or chocolate brown. Barong Tagalog, Kitenge shirt, or a formal suit all work beautifully. The bestman, fathers, and principal sponsors wear beige or light brown to distinguish the inner circle.

For the Ladies

Emerald & Sage Green

Bridesmaids and female guests wear emerald green—floor-length gowns or cocktail dresses. Maids of honour and mothers of the couple wear sage green, a slightly lighter shade that honours their special role. Terno, Filipiniana, and Kitenge formal wear are all welcome.

Mall · ready-to-wear

Kultura Filipino

Filipiniana lifestyle — ready-to-wear, in every major SM Mall

SM's in-house Filipiniana brand. Curated racks of barong, terno, modern Filipiniana dresses, piña-jusi shirts, and lifestyle pieces. Best one-stop if you have an afternoon between flights — try it on, walk out wearing it.

Market · custom tailored

Baclaran Market

Wholesale prices, hands-on tailoring

A sprawling open-air market along Roxas Boulevard known for traditional Filipino fabrics — piña, jusi, abaca — and rows of small stalls that will tailor a barong or terno in 1–3 days. Best for bargain hunters and anyone who wants something custom on a tight timeline.

Price range

₱800 – ₱3,500 for a tailored barong; bargaining expected

Tip

Go on a weekday morning — weekends are packed. Bring small bills, agree on a price before fabric is cut, and ask for the same stall when you return for fitting.

Designer / department store

Onesimus

Premium barong since 1989 — Ayala Mall flagships

The go-to barong house for political and corporate events in Manila. Heritage Piña, Jusilyn, and Polyester barongs cut sharp. Found in the upscale Ayala Mall ecosystem rather than SM.

Price range

₱6,000 – ₱20,000 for ready-to-wear; tailored to order from ₱12,000

Tip

Greenbelt 5 is the flagship and carries the broadest selection — both Greenbelt and Glorietta are walking distance from each other in Makati, so you can hit both in the same afternoon.

Designer / department store

Rustan’s Barong Center

Department-store barongs from established houses

The Barong section at Rustan’s flagship stores carries Onesimus, Barong Republic, and a rotating list of Filipino designers — all under one roof. Reliable mid-tier quality without the market haggling.

Price range

₱4,000 – ₱15,000 for ready-to-wear barong; tailoring upcharge

Tip

Makati is the easiest stop if you’re overnight in BGC or Makati before driving up — it sits in the same Ayala Center walking radius as Onesimus and Tesoro’s.

Designer / department store

Tesoro’s Handicrafts

Filipiniana lifestyle since 1945 — Ayala-leaning

One of the oldest Filipino artisan houses. Hand-embroidered Barong, Filipiniana dresses, and handcrafted accessories. Lower volume than Kultura but stronger heritage details — embroidery patterns, piña-jusi blends, and gift-worthy lifestyle pieces.

Price range

₱3,500 – ₱12,000 for barong; ₱4,000+ for Filipiniana dresses

Tip

Greenbelt 5 is steps from Onesimus and Rustan’s — make Makati Ayala Center your single afternoon for all three.

Mong’s Designer Outlet · Quiapo

Old-school barong tailors, quick turnaround

Long-running barong house in Quiapo with a loyal Filipino-American following. Generations of weddings have come through here. Less polished than Kultura, much warmer.
